I - Registration

Qwenya is open for all European QuakeWorld players. However, non-European players are free to sign up as long as they play their matches in Europe.
Upon registration you will be given a username and password, this is for reporting matches and is unique for each player, so don't lose it or give it away.
Players with multiple registration entries in one regional section and fakenickers will be disqualified and thrown to the sharks.

II - Clients

Allowed clients
Open source clients (with source code publicly availible on Internet) that have equivalent checks/restrictions of ezQuake's:
Ruleset smackdown
Client has to answer to f_modified and do the same checks and restrictions as ezQuake's f_modified
Movement script prevention
Client has to answer f_version with proper information of client name/version/os

Allowed modifications
Required ruleset: smackdown (ezQuake), nqr (FTE), eql (Fodquake). How? ruleset smackdown (in console) / disconnect / reconnect , allow_scripts 0 works without reconnecting.
For routing, Qizmo 2.91 is allowed, prefered method is however the new QWfwd proxy
Players are required to do f_ruleset checks before gamestart.
Using disallowed clients/proxies might lead to points deduction or even a WO.

IV - Maps

Best-of-Three-Matches
A regular game in the running season is a best-of-three match.
The higher seeded player decides if he wants to pick the first map and toss away as the latter or if he wants to pick the second map and toss away as the former.
Two examples for the rules follow. The player which is higher seeded is P1, the other player is P2.

Example 1:
P1 decides to pick the first map.
The next map is chosen by P2.
If a third map is necessary four of the five maps in the map pool have to be tossed. The order in which the players toss is P2-P1-P2-P1. The remaining map is played.

Example 2:
P1 decides that P2 has to pick the first map.
The next map is chosen by P1.
If a third map is necessary four of the five maps in the map pool have to be tossed. The order in which the players toss is P1-P2-P1-P2. The remaining map is played.

Best-of-Five-Matches
For semi-finals and finals.
Each map can be played only one time in a best-of-five match. The higher seeded player decides if he wants to pick the first and third map or if he wants to pick the second and the fourth map.
Two examples for the rules follow. The player which is higher seeded is P1, the other player is P2.

Example 1:
P1 decides to pick the first map.
The next map is chosen by P2.
The next map is chosen by P1.
The next map is chosen by P2.
If a fifth map is necessary the remaining map is played.

Example 2:
- P1 decides that P2 has to pick the first map.
The next map is chosen by P1.
The next map is chosen by P2.
The next map is chosen by P1.
If a fifth map is necessary the remaining map is played.

The higher seeded player is marked in the "Next match" section of the User-Panel.

V - Cheating/Whining/Scripts

Disconnecting voluntarily during a match means a straight walkover on current map (unless "timed out" - decision by admins).
No unnecessary whining.
Lame people will be treated lame, nice people will be treated nice, princess_faerie won't be allowed to signup.
Any kind of idling or lameness will not be tolerated and can follow WO in current game or kick from current season.
Players who cheat, or try to cheat will get a permanent ban from tournament.
Scripts are not allowed. Make sure to check that your opponent has them turned off before starting to play.

VI - Reporting matches

The winner of the game reports the match results as soon as possible using the 'Report Match' function on the page. If the winner somehow can't provide a match report the other player will get permission to do it.
Or just report it to an admin.

VII - Servers

We are aiming for players to play with a maximum of 52ms due to players participating from Spain or Portugal to Russia. Some games will be played with a higher ping than usuall but since we are in the EU you should be able to play with a maximum of 52ms for BOTH players. Non-EU players have to play on a server where his EU opponent have ping 52 as maximum.

In general the game can be played on any server both players agree to play on. The tournament Admins insist that the players' server-choice is done with common sense and that pings are kept as low as possible.
However if the players don't agree, the server is determined by the following procedure:
1. Both players have to show their lowest possible ping they can get on 1on1 servers.
2. After that a server has to be found where both players get a ping which is about the same amount higher than their lowest possible ping. A ping difference of ~13ms is never considered to be too high.

A list of servers can be found on in the 'Servers' section. This list only provides a base of servers which you are free to use. You can of course use other servers as well.
If players still can't agree on a server, please contact admins about it. Admin decision is final.

VIII - Timeframe

All matches will have a deadline. If players can't organize themselves to get games played and reported by the end of the deadline, WO will be given to the player that proved admins that he really tried to make the game happen. Please report your activity to an admin before the deadline is over.
If either player pays no interest at all to get the game played, both players loses, meaning both are out of the tournament.

In order to guarantee some coverage of the bigger games, the schedules for the semi finals and the Grand Finale have to be arranged with an admin.

IX - Tournament admins

The admins are there to help you ( and kick you ), so if you ever need our assistance or have any questions, you can find us in the channel #qwenya, on QuakeNet. Everyone who has @ in front of their nicks should be an admin.

/ We've seen your application Panic Boy and Speacon will oervsbe applicants before deciding if they offer a trial. Currently there are three people still in their trial period. So they might be waiting for some people to finish that, before handing out new trial spots.
